workout- 1, study - 0

400m- 21mins. 20s rest every 25m. 1-2min rest after each 50m
so slow. learning bilateral breathing makes me feel like i'm learning to swim all over again!

on a plus, i lost 2 pounds=). woohoo, another good thing about being able to work out again. my ankle messed me up on running, but at least swimming was easier to get back into! let's hope i'm on a roll..i miss my old clothes!!!!!

so yeah, i think i need motivation. i think while trying to get into the groove of getting back in to studying, i need some self motivation. i got in about 1 hour of studying yesterday. told myself all day at work that i need to spend the night studying,  and not go on a bike ride w/ lou. hmm well, i transferred all my books to the guest room/craft room..hehe whatever you'd like to call it. i worked on a problem, i checked facebook. i worked on problem, i checked my email. i worked on a problem, then started listening to the colbert report on tv from the living room. yeah, i have a problem getting motivated right now. i was SO good last time when i had studied for another portion of my exam. if i stayed home to study i'd only use my phone for the alarm to go off  when to take a break, i'd put on my earplugs or some classical music to block out anything that might distract me, or i'd leave the house to study. bah, motivation come back...please? geez i sound like such a freaking whiner.

and then after dinner..i was weak. hehe gave in to watching more of the big bang theory season2 until our thursday shows come on. c'mon, thursdays have the best lineup!!! hmm maybe hubby's right...we've been watching too much tv lately...but seriously, the shows have gotten way better. for sure it ain't no TGIF days=P..but they're good! good thing we finished our anime's before i got into this new regime. i better stay away from looking up new j-dorama's to watch too!

*sigh* it's slowly hitting me that we won't get our annual march/april vacay. boo! my fault i know. but i really want to go somewhere already. heheh yes we did just get back from a mini east coast trip..but going international is on a whole new level! geez that sounds snotty huh? though i did love boston, way more than i though i would. i've been putting off visiting boston bc of their dang sports teams..ugh, yuck, blehhhhhhh! but, ate & bro-in-law keep telling us how beautiful boston is and that we'd really like it. guess it was a plus that since the carreon's were out in jersey now, we can see them too! so we went, and i looooooved it. the only bad thing was being there the weekend after the colts lost to the jets=(..and then being surrounded by pats fans on the weekend of their first playoff game, ehhh. but it was a great trip. such a different vibe over there.

the people were way more friendly than i had thought. guess sports just gives us a jaded attituted towards the locals=P. what i really loved though was just roaming through the city and seeing how historical that city is. i guess i got the same feeling when we first visited philly. i dunno, it's crazy how much history took place in those cities. and then to see all the historical sites/buildings surrounded by the high rises and more modern buildings was pretty sweet. i'm dorky like that. totally loved staring at the architecture of the buildings. when we were at the boston library we walked through the halls and got glimpses of the courtyard. sooo pretty bc of the snow that had fallen a few days earlier..but what i really liked were the archways=P. just reminded me of our trip to italy and visiting the doge's palace. hehe. sillies. but yeah..maybe i'll put up some pics later of the trip.

i loved our amtrak ride from boston to ny too! i love trains in general, y'know must be the engineering nerd in me i guess? i mean i've only taken metrolink & amtrak from work to home so the views i've seen were nothing compared to passing through rhode island and connecticut (why is the "c" silent? i always wondered that. same as arkansas..why not spell it arkansaw!..heheh i digress..). our nj/ny visit was pretty relaxing. it's a good thing we had previously visited ny before bc we got all the touristy stuff out of the way. i told danielle that our visit w/ them just felt like a relaxing sleepover=P. so much hustle and bustle visiting boston, and we finally got to slow it down and sleep in when we stayed with them. hehe thanks again you guys!=).

wow, long post...lunch is over..time to finish up the work..bleh, before the storm hits next monday=(..not gonna be fun w/ all these rush projects coming in. but hey, lucky to have a job right? yup.

Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.
-John Rohn

the title has changed.

it's time to shift my focus on the goals now...

so...it's slowly starting. once i found out that i didn't pass the last part of my exam=(, i had to take a different approach on things that i had previously planned. our usual march/april vacay needed to be postponed, what will i do about my tri-training, and i really have to focus this time and study for that exam! bah, study. i've been out of college for almost 9 years now....it's just so hard to spend 3 hours on most weeknights and all weekend in front of books when there's a lot more things i'd rather be doing.

plus the fact that over the holidays i invested in my first ever road bike! it was to push me more and finally get the cahones to train for a tri. haha well, for sure at least a duathlon! i've always wanted to do one, so why not? i've pushed myself to run a marathon, i've had my fair share of half-marathons & mud runs, and i even got to take part in an awesome 12-person, 178 mile relay. i figured it's about time to give myself another challenge! am i scared? heck yeah i'm scared. a tri is a whole new animal to tackle! though lou is super excited bc this time around he gets a training partner. hahah if i can call myself that, he's so freaking fast already. i'm just a newb=P.

so welcome to my new world...

1)
the books.
yup, i have time on my hands to take a picture of the 1st page turned. yeah, umm gotta get the priorities straight=P.

2)
the swim gear.
haha lookout for that girl you see splashing like crazy trying to get the bilateral breathing down!

3)
the bike stuff.
after a few falls and a bruised ego, i got the clipless pedaling down. though not before i jacked up my pretty tri-bike shoes and pedals!

4)
the run stuff.
my trusty asics. and THE STICK. works wonders on tight muscles. how i miss running. that sprained ankle from bellebowl really messed me up=(

it's been quite a ride so far trying to figure out how to schedule things. so i decided to change up my blog for the next few months to log in my studies/workouts and see how i'm doing. and with all the new stuff going on, gotta have brain/energy food. i try, yes i do!, to eat healthy..hahah but sometimes i hear paula's voice in the back of my head screaming "butta, more butta!" i used to be really good about our meals..but man, all those food network shows have got me trying out all different stuff. and y'know, not all of it is super healthy..hehe and we know how husby is. muahaha, so i'll add some foodie pics to make me feel better in this whole healthy eating while in training/study mode.

dinner.
quinoa (made w/ chicken stock & added fresh garrrrrlic!!), steamed kale, & grilled chicken breast. mmmm

this should be interesting. i do hope i'm not overdoing it. i think i should really focus more on studying, and when there's time i'll squeeze in some workouts. i'm bad, studying should've started this week already and all i've managed to do is take out my books and open the first page of one=/. but on a brighter note i was able to do some really good workouts?? hmm, that's not the order of the title i made! i really NEED TO FOCUS!

LOG:
1/23 - yay 2nd time out and i learned to finally use clipless pedals. though not after some snappy talk back at husby when he was giving me tips..hahahah. but yay, 3 miles around the neighborhood!
1/24 - first long bike ride (12 miles, ~47mins). and a not so fun, clumsy fall when leaving an intersection. sheesh! drivers must've had a good laugh=/.
1/25 - hehe, umm opened the first page of my book to study?? BAD BAD BAD!
1/27 - swim, 400m. 1st 200m were in intervals (10mins). every 50m had a 15sec rest between laps. then another 1-2minute breather after 50m.
2nd 200m (12mins) tried to practice bilateral breathing. that ish is hard!

though i'm proud to say last night i did learn how to put on a swim cap! thank you youtube folks for passing on knowledge that i can find by googling "how to put on a swim cap (with long hair)." hahaha. here's to a start of new challenges in the new year!

(*side note: happy bday & welcome to the 30's club danielle!!)

oops..super old post that i forgot to finsih=/

Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.
-Norman Vincent Peale

yay last work day til a very much needed 10-day vacation from work! as much as i'd like to have gone somewhere during our christmas break, i'm actually quite excited to just be doing nothing and just hanging out. i haven't had a christmas break since college, so today i'm so giddy like a kid counting down the hours til we get to go home. woohoo, can't wait!
