happy 21st birthday little sister!!! oh my goodness, freaking we're getting older and older if you're already 21=P. we're gonna have some fuuuuuuuuun in vegas this weekend! awww and happy valentine's day to boyfriend=).teeheeha i can't wait to see what you're cooking us tonight. yummay!
you know is it really us getting older that broadens ones tastes for certain foods/drinks? i can name 3 things off the top of my head that i used to be disgusted at from childhood-college:
1) wine. i remember going winetasting in santa barbara with lou like our 2nd year together. i started thinking that mmm white wines are good. haha specifically the rieslings and muscats because they were so sweet. eventually i got into zinfandels, pinots, etc... but i couldn't bring myself to enjoy the reds.
i tried merlots, cabernets, syrahs..but they were all so bitter tasting to me. then we went wine tasting again about 2 summers ago and i started to appreciate the reds. haha i think the chocolates they served had something to do with it. we had this one dessert wine, port, and you eat it with chocolate chips. ohhhhhhhh man that was so good! then i slowly started to acquire a taste for the popular reds and love lambruscos, cabernets and cardinale=). i'm not saying i'm some wine enthusiast, but just that my taste buds have broadened i guess.
2) dark chocolate. eww as a kid i totally hated the bitterness in dark chocolate. i'd always buy those hershey's miniatures because i loved the mr. goodbars and plain ones. i would toss out those dark chocolates and think they were the nastiest thing ever. so from then i would stay clear of dark chocolates, until i started working after college. every year my co-worker gives us individual coffees and chocolates from hawaii for christmas. of course it's dark chocolate he gives, so the first year i told him thanks but i don't eat that so he can have it=). but he promised i'd make an exception and like this one. i tried it..and lo and behold i enjoyed it. not that i always eat dark chocolate, sometimes i still cringe at it..haha drama i know. but today when my coworker was giving us the dark chocolate hershey kisses, i actually thought it was good. no wine needed at all too=P. it wasn't bitter anymore, just not as sweet as i was used to (which at that thought, prompted me to blog).
and lastly..
3) oysters. my dad and older sister love them. i tried them but it just tasted so fishy. i guess i must've been eating them wrong or something because when we were at the seafood buffet in seattle my cousin made this bombass soy/tabasco/lemon sauce for the oysters which enhanced the flavors soooooooo much..hhaha or i just liked the sauce=P. i ended up eating so many oysters that i got to know the chef chucking the oysters with all my conversations i made getting more plates of them..hehhe.
so now i'm wondering, is it age that lets us appreciate the finer foods (haha if you count dark chocolate=P as finer) or is it just that back then i wasn't keen on trying new things? i dunno, either way i'm glad i finally gave in because they are all freaking good, both healthwise and tastewise!!! man, this makes me want to go wine tasting again..any takers?=)
okay so i know lou stopped with his workout posts which is good for us readers..hehe but i needed it to remind me of what we're doing since he said i'm suppose to keep track of my workouts so that's what i'll do from now on till i see some progression coming along=P. so now you can join in my progression, fun eh?..so here goes yesterday:
Tuesday, 2/13 5x5's
Dumbell bench press: 20/20/25/25/25
Bent-over rows: 45/45/50/55/55
Pushpresses: 45/45/30/30/30
haha you may wonder why I started out at 40lbs for the pushpresses and then went down to 30lbs. umm because boyfriend has too high expecations of me=P..anyways..happy vday all=P
