No i'm not a trekky....i'm just tired of my slow modem...and i didn't feel like looking up a quote...why not just use one that pops in your head?..so that's what i did...oh how i miss my cable modem..i think that's what i'll get on my first paycheck...yay..oh man...that'll be fun wouldn't it?...so yah...tomorrow will be my last day of my first week of officially working for the city of l.a....and then i get a weekend and monday to relax...yess!...dang..i don't think i appreciated my bummy days as much as i should have...so...in these past four working days of mine..what have i learned?...let's see..1) that i am the only girl that was hired out of the 18 or so people that got hired for l.a.d.o.t (los angeles department of transportation in case you were wondering=P), 2) always remember the faces and NAMES of the head honchos...give 'em a REAL smile and ALWAYS say hello, 3) appreciate those greens you get at all the lights....geez..do you know how much time and effort goes into that just to make the public happy?, 4) that there's a control system underground at city hall that is sooooo cool....for those of you who used to watch the jetson's...remember how george could see all the flying cars go by everywhere at his work?...that's what this place looks like...it's dope!, 5) almost everyone i work with is really cool and laid back, 6) appreciate the speed of your computers at home...and the quiet keyboard, 7) you can take city cars to lunch and park in the meters for free!! hahah cuz ladot owns them all!...whoa cool (hmm..or maybe it's just me who finds that amusing), 8) that somehow...training feels like i'm in college again in the lecture halls..only this time..the lecture hall is about half the size of my bedroom!!!, 9) that i can no longer stay out late on a weekday cuz i need my sleep =( ..., 10) that i don't get paid for about a month!, 11) that what you learn in college doesn't really matter...work is such a whole new learning environment, 12) there are some benefits of having daddy work with me=), 13) ...gosh i can go on forever i think on this one...and it's only been four days..hahahah what a concept!...so i'll stop with those little tidbits of my working knowledge...you know what was funny?..we had a bbq lunch today..and the co-worker who cooked all the food...looked and sounded just like "chef" from south park...funny huh?...he's a chef...looks and talks like chef...hmmm???..okay nevermind...so umm..my cubicle's kinda next to my boss's..it's cool..cuz i don't face him...and he's pretty cool..i'm kinda scared though...cuz a lot of the people working in my division, including my boss, are uci alumni...(they say our division is a conspiracy to hire all uci people..hehehh...zot..zot baby!)...so since those people are alumni, they know what i SHOULD know...argggghh....well...everyone told me that what we learn is new...so i should be okay...i hope i'll be okay...so now my countdown is like this...only 17 hours 2 minutes and 40 seconds til the weekend!!! woohoo!!=)
